The Calaveras County Fair has a rich heritage in Rodeo.  The Arena once hosted its own runway. Cowboys flew in from all over the country to participate in the Rodeo as depicted in the 1970's movie "JW Coop".  Photos from the Frogtown Rodeos of yester year are on display in the Naitonal Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.  Famous world champions such as Donny Gay, Bill Ward and Larry Mahan have special ties to Calaveras County.

 

In 2014 we brought prorodeo back to the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.  In addition to a rodeo, the arena also hosts the Calaveras County Saddle Queen Competition, Junior Horse Show and Western Horse Events.  The Frogtown Arena Committee meets frequently throughout the year to plan the annual event.  For more information call the Fair office or email laurie@frogtown.org.
